It is probably well familiar to many how a serene atmosphere blended with latent fear during the long flying hours can connect people in a way that casual passengers come out of the aircraft feeling as life-long friends, enriched with a memorable experience. Being on an ultra long-haul flight myself back in May this year, I was extremely fortunate to have a person of an awe-inspiring courtesy and vivacity in the passenger’s seat next to mine.
In this advocation of a genuine appreciation of a friendship and a wonderful person above all, in a world where people are fast in placing a criticism or starting an argument, yet slow to recognize a virtue or praise a quality characteristic in a person, I feel obliged to voice my belief that we must never miss the opportunity to tell all the wonderful people how much we appreciate their enreaching presence at some point in our lives, no matter how short-termed it was. Hence, I would love to be able to personally lavish the kudos to my amiable (London/Wollongong based GP) seat-mate from the Etihad’s Sydney-Abu Dhabi flight for the displayed and most welcomed sense of security and safety, friendliness, attentiveness and care – all conveyed by his buoyant personality during the long flight, as I didn’t have the chance to confer him my gratitude, due to a mischance merged with the stress over our connecting flights to London (UK) and Istanbul (TR) / Skopje (MKD), respectively.
My boarding pass data: Etihad Airways – EY 455, class Y, Airbus Industrie A340-600, Thursday May 24th / Sydney to Abu Dhabi – Economy class, seat 35 K – window.
